White Beach Port Barton Palawan
Port Barton is a village on the north-west coast of the island of Palawan. It’s about 23km north-west of Roxas. From Puerto Princesa it takes about three hours. The last 20 kms of the road is in bad condition but that will soon change. Port Barton is a sleepy town. Accommodation is limited and caters to backpackers and individual travelers. There is no electricity, except from 1730 until midnight. There are no banks or ATMs. There are no doctors or hospitals. White Beach is only a short boat ride away from Port Barton. The White Beach Resort only has 8 rooms. It is the only resort on the beach. There is no wifi and only electricity from 1730 until midnight as well. Prepare yourself for going back in time to the early days of backpacking, the days of Lonely Planet and Southeast Asia on a Shoestring. White Beach is a wonderful quiet and secluded beach.
Port Barton and White Beach are perfect places to start an island hopping trip to offshore reefs and islands. Just as in destinations such as Honda Bay and El Nido there are different island hopping programs available, coded A, B, C and D. Typically travelers join on a specific tour that has enough people on that day and form small groups. There are reefs called Twin, Aquarium and Wide Reef. There are lots of islands off the coast such as German Island, Exotic Island and Paradise Island. Snorkeling is great! A nice change of scenery is the small Bigaho waterfall. A short hike of about 20 minutes will take you to this pretty waterfall. On the mainland there are also many beaches that look pretty deserted apart from the odd fisherman’s house. Hiring a private boat for a day is not that expensive. We can tailor your island hopping tour to avoid meeting other tourists. White Beach is a quiet and very relaxed destination. If you are looking for a beach stay away from partying crowds White Beach is the place to go. Stay at least three nights!
